The Transport Data Commons Initiative was recently featured in CKAN Live, a community event hosted by Datopian that brings together CKAN practitioners from around the world. The session highlighted the vision behind the TDCI’s and its contributions to the open data ecosystem in the transport sector, and included a first preview of the TDC Portal to the general public. Transforming Transportation 2025 marked the 22nd edition of this global transport forum. The event featured an in-person experience at the World Bank Headquarters in Washington, DC, along with virtual access to all main forum sessions for a global audience. The main forum took place on March 11 and 12, with additional days throughout the week dedicated to side events and partner meetings. As part of the program, the TDC was presented in a first public sneak preview, offering attendees an early look at its purpose, features, and future role in supporting transport and climate data.
We had a joint session with the International Transport and Energy Modelling Partnership (iTEM), diving deep into the challenges of data quality and the importance of collaboration. The insights from the incredible researchers and modellers highlighted how vital it is to provide high-quality data to inform transport sector decision-making.
The International Symposium on Transportation Data & Modelling - ISTDM 2023 will take place in Ispra, Italy from 19 June 2023, 13:00 CEST - 22 June 2023, 13:30 CEST.
ISTDM2023 is open to: researchers and academics; transport infrastructure managers and owners; traffic operation managers, road transport operators; industry, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers; public authorities; NGOs and other stakeholders.
The Annual Summit of the International Transport Forum is the world's largest gathering of transport ministers and the premier global transport policy event. Every May, ministers with responsibility for transport, business leaders, heads of international organisations, parliamentarians and policy makers, representatives of business associations and leading researchers meet for three days in Leipzig, Germany, to discuss the future of transport through the prism of a strategic topic.
We are pleased to invite interested stakeholders to the workshop "Towards a Transport Data Commons - Making High Quality Transport Data Accessible" on March 17, 2023, 9:00 am - 12:30 pm (UTC-4) at the headquarters of the World Bank in Washington, DC (Room MC2-800). The workshop will provide a platform to inform interested individuals and organizations about what happened and how they can participate and engage with the Transport Data Commons. In addition, we would like to take a closer look at how to open up and share data, in particular when it comes to development banks and international organizations.
